FIA F2 and FIA F3 in Budapest

Last weekend the FIA Formula 2 and FIA Formula 3 visited the Hungaroring near Budapest for their penultimate rounds before the summer break.

For PHM Driver Nikita Bedrin, who races for Jenzer Motorsport in FIA F3, qualifying went quite well. He finished in 11th position, which means he will start the sprint race from the second position. Michael Woohyun Shin ended his first ever qualifying in the series in 27th position as the best driver for PHM Racing by Charouz.

Nikita Bedrin had an excellent start to the sprint race and pulled off an overtake around the outside of turn 1 to take over the lead of the race. It's the first time ever that a PHM Racing driver is leading a Formula 3 race! He fighted hard to defend his position. After being overtaken back Nikita could create a comfortable gap to the third place driver and follow the leader in the DRS zone, but with an unfortunate Safety Car at the closing stages of the race he lost his 5 second gap to the third place driver. During the last laps Nikita gave everything but had to give up the second position, because he almost had no rubber left on his Pirelli tyres. He finished in third position, scoring the first ever podium in FIA Formula 3 for a PHM Racing driver. We are extremely proud of his work together with the Jenzer Motorsport crew!

In Formula 2 Brad Benavides and Roy Nissany had solid two races. Both improved their positions in the races from the starting positions. In the sprint race PHM Racing tried an aggressive strategy with Roy Nissany after pitting under the VSC for an unusual stop. It almost paid out in the end.

Sophia Flörsch pulled off a total of 23 overtakes in the sprint race and feature race combined, showing her consistently strong pace and race craft in the highly competitive field of the best young drivers in the world.

Roberto Faria scored his best finishing position of the season in the sprint race with P19, also showing great improvements from his side.

Both teams will be back on track again at the Circuit de Spa Francorchamps for the last round before the summer break this weekend. We will keep the momentum from our first ever podium and continue to build on that.
